Dennis Taylor is one of the original Cummins Good Guys as
described by Bill Elder in his recollection of the founding of the
organization. In addition he was the Recording Secretary of the
CGG organization until he passed the job on to me sometime in the
1990s.
Dennis, Ray Jackson and I enjoyed communicating about things of
mutual interest, mainly Cummins or diesel industry related, via
email. I always looked forward to Dennis' stories about his time
at Cummins over 40 years. We knew many of the same people at
Cummins. He was particularly proud of his contributions to
writing Cummins history through his communications with Clessie
Lyle Cummins Jr. about things he witnessed while with the Company.
Dennis has been in poor health for some time, but was always
cheerful and looking forward to the next day.

Dennis
M. Taylor, age 88 of Hudson, OH passed
away Tuesday, May 21, 2019. He was born in Merrill, WI and
was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin. He proudly
served his country in the U.S. Army while stationed in
Germany. He spent 40 years in the diesel engine industry
including six years in the Far East based in Hong Kong and
Singapore. His region included the Philippines, Malaysia,
Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Hong Kong,
Taiwan and Burma. He shared wonderful stories of his
travels. He retired in 1996 as Vice President of Sales from
a Northern Ohio diesel distributor.
Dennis was active in several Ohio trade organizations,
President of O.E.D.A., a Board Member of the Ohio Public Transit Association and a member of the Ohio Mining
and Reclamation Association. He was also a member of The Society of Automotive Engineers and the Society of Mining Engineers
as well as a member of American Legion Post 464, the VFW and St. Mary's LAM. He was a Life Member of the
Wisconsin Alumni Association and the Singapore American Club. Dennis enjoyed UW football, reading and boating
at the family home in Eagle River, Wisconsin

Dennis is survived by his beloved wife Rose Mary (nee Farabaugh), his loving children Patricia
M. Taylor and Susan D. (Richard) Christensen and his cherished grandchildren Ava, Emma and Jacob Christensen,
He is also the dear brother of Robert M. (Katherine, deceased) Taylor and the late Richard J. (Nancy, surviving)
Taylor, and a dear uncle and great uncle of many.

Donald R. Toth, age 84, a 50-year resident
of Naperville, IL, passed away on April 30, 2019 at Edward Hospital.
He was born September 10, 1934 and grew up in his much-loved hometown of Chagrin
Falls, OH.
Don is survived by his beloved wife, Phyl Toth; his loving children, Tim (Cathy) Toth, Cindy (Steve) Craig, Brian
(Cecilia) Toth and Kyle Toth; his grandchildren, Samantha, Alex, Jason, Joanne, Adam, and Lindsey; his brother, Robert (Margo)
Toth; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Elsie Toth.
Don graduated with a business degree from Miami University of Oxford, OH. While
there he met his sweetheart and they were married 62 years.
He had a long and successful career as a marketing executive in the heavy truck
engine industry, starting at Cummins Engines and retiring from Navistar. Don was an avid golfer, bicyclist and loved dogs.
Throughout his life, Don had a passion for books and reading. He enjoyed learning, particularly exploring history,
and sharing his knowledge with his family.
Don enjoyed life, especially family time together, and was very proud of his children
and grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Ralph wasn't an official member of the Cummins Good Guys, but played golf with the group in Columbus and was a friend to many,
if not all of the group. I'm taking the liberty to make him a posthumous honorary member of the Cummins Good Guys.
Ralph Edgar Schumann, 90, died October 11, 2018. Ralph was born in Wapakoneta,
Ohio on June 7, 1928, the third of four boys born to the late Fentrus M. Shaw and Andrew W. Schumann.
In 1950, Ralph was commissioned a 2nd Lt in the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers proudly serving in the U. S. Army Reserve through
1960. Ralph graduated from The Ohio State University in 1951 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. While in college he
was recognized as an accomplished marksman with the Rifle team and was also a member of the Triangle Fraternity. After graduating,
Ralph moved to Columbus to start a 35 year career with Cummins Engine Company in which he was a key contributor to the company’s
creation of the NH Engine. In 1954, Ralph married Nancy Snyder, and they made a beautiful life together, raising 4 children
in the Columbus community.
Ralph was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Nancy Snyder Schumann, his parents, and two brothers, Thomas G. and John
A. Schumann.
Ralph is survived by his children, daughter Marilynn Cullison (Thomas) Swansboro, NC, son Fritz (Anne) West Chester, PA, daughters,
Sally Hirsch (Daniel) Denver, CO and Kathy Kok (Hans) Carmel, IN; as well as six grandchildren: Catherine Cullison Culver
(Matthew), Andy Cullison, Natalie and Claire Schumann, Caden Hirsch and Will Kok; and great grandson, Easton Culver. He is
also survived by his brother, Carl R. Schumann.
The First United Methodist Church will miss his beautiful voice, where he sang in the choir for over 60 years. He was a dedicated
member of the Columbus Evening Kiwanis, acting as their scholarship chairman for over 25 years. He also served on the Bartholomew
County Drainage Board.
He was a true outdoorsman, and passed this love of nature on to his children and grandchildren. For 43 years, he was joined
by family and friends, for an annual fishing, canoeing and camping adventure in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness.
An accomplished trap shooter, placing at the Grand Nationals, Ralph was a proud lifetime and Golden Eagle member of the National
Rifle Association. Ralph loved hunting and fishing, and he made sure his children and grandchildren learned how to fish, paddle
a canoe, hunt for morel mushrooms and tap a maple tree.
A celebration of his life will be held for family and friends on Saturday, October
27, 2018 at 1:30 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 618 Eighth Street, Columbus, IN. Private inurnment will be at
Garland Brook Cemetery. The family will receive online condolences at www.Myers-Reed.com.

Paul R. Kahlenbeck, 86, of Columbus, passed from
this life at 4 a.m. Friday, August 10, 2018 at his home.
Mr. Kahlenbeck was born September 24, 1931, in Huntington, Indiana, the son of Henry and Pearl Lowman
Kahlenbeck. He married Rosie Ross June 10, 1951; she preceded him in death August 30, 1993.
Mr. Kahlenbeck graduated in 1950 from Huntington High
School. On December 29, 1950, he entered active duty with the U.S. Navy serving on the USS Bayfield during the Korean Conflict.
He was honorably discharged November 2, 1954.
He returned home and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in engineering from Tri-State University
in Angola, Indiana in 1958. In 1990, he received his doctorate in engineering from Tri-State University where he would serve
as Chairman of the Board for many years and then later was Chairman Emeritus. Even today, Mr. & Mrs. Kahlenbeck sponsored
a scholarship at Trine University (formerly Tri-State).
He joined Cummins Engine Company, where he had a long, successful career. He would retire as a vice-president
after many years of faithful service.
Mr.
Kahlenbeck was an active member of Sandy Hook United Methodist Church, where he held various offices and served his church
wherever necessary. He was an avid golfer; it was said that his hobbies included golf, golf and more golf.
Mr. Kahlenbeck is survived by his sons, John (Dee) Kahlenbeck
of Columbus, Jim (Kathy) Kahlenbeck of Columbus and Joe (Andrea) Kahlenbeck of Columbus; grandchildren, Todd (Noelle) Kahlenbeck
of Orlando, Florida, Lauren (Dr. Ryan) Felde of Huntley, Illinois, Scott (Natalie) Kahlenbeck of Franklin, Indiana, Amy Kahlenbeck
and her fiancé, Jamison Benton of Seymour, Indiana, Erika Kahlenbeck of Columbus and Nathan Kahlenbeck of Columbus; great-grandchildren,
Payton and Jordan Felde and Adaline and Emma Kahlenbeck; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Kahlenbeck was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 42 years, Rosie; a brother,
Chuck Kahlenbeck; and sisters, Lena Allen, Margaret Stephan, Ruth Harnish and Thelma Kahlenbeck.
The
funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Sandy Hook United Methodist Church with Pastor Steve Russell officiating.
Family and friends may gather for visitation from 5 to
8 p.m. Thursday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street and from 9 a.m. until service time Friday
at the church.
Mr. Kahlenbeck
will be laid to rest next to his wife at Garland Brook Cemetery. Full military honors will be presented by the Bartholomew
County Veterans Honor Guard.

George Gaskell was a graduate of Purdue University. He attended

George Kellogg Gaskell, 90, US Navy Veteran, 50 year
career with Cummins peacefully entered eternal life on August 2, 2016.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Patricia; son, George Jr.; daughters, Belinda, Alice and predeceased daughter
Mary; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Alan Charles Birchler,
86, of
Southern Pines, NC, formerly of Sylvania, OH, passed away
peacefully in hospice Friday morning, June 8th, after a lengthy
decline in health. His wife Molly had been with him before he
passed, along with his daughter Ann.
He was born on April 28, 1932,
in
Cleveland, OH, to Charles F. and Annette C. Birchler. In 1950 he
graduated from Cleveland’s St. Ignatius High School. He then
went on to Purdue University, in Lafayette, IN, where he became
a member of the Kappa Sigma fraternity. He graduated from Purdue
with a BS degree in mechanical engineering, in 1954. After
graduation, he served two years in the U.S. Army. Then, in 1956,
he joined Cummins Engine Company’s Engine Sales Department,
located in Columbus, IN. In 1963, he was retained by Dana
Corporation, Toledo, OH, from which he retired in 1994. In his
31 years of service to Dana Corp., he served in Sales
Engineering and Sale Administration positions within the Spicer
Transmission and Spicer Heavy Axle Divisions. Since 1960 he has
been a member of the Society of Automotive Engineers, in which
he served on two committees as Chairman. He was a very involved
alumnus of Purdue University, being a member and past president
of the Purdue Club of Toledo, along with memberships in the John
Purdue Club and the President’s Council of Purdue University. He
was also an ardent supporter of Purdue’s athletic programs, most
particularly, their football program. He was an enthusiastic
golfer, belonging for 35 years to Highland Meadows Golf Club in
Sylvania, OH, as well as being a member of Longleaf Golf Club in
Southern Pines. In 2004, he and his wife, Molly, moved
permanently to Southern Pines, where he became a congregant of
the Village Chapel of Pinehurst. They also established the Bill
Birchler Scholarship at the Sandhills Community College of
Southern Pines.
He is survived by his loving
wife, Molly Thomas. His son, Bill Birchler, predeceased him, but
he is also survived by daughter Ann Birchler (Roger Randall) and son Tom Birchler
(Melanie), both of Alexandria, VA, daughter Nancy Flis (Dan) of Chantilly, VA, grandson
Bill Birchler, also of Alexandria, VA, step-sons Marty Thomas and Boyd Thomas, and
six step-grandchildren.
There will be a private graveside
service on Friday, June 15th, at Pine Lawn Memorial Park.

Peter Ster, 92, of Columbus, Indiana, died May 15, 2017, at Keepsake Village in Columbus, with his family by his side.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Anne Geraldine “Jerri” Gleason Ster; and an infant daughter,
Margaret, who died shortly after birth in Scotland. Pete is survived by his sons, Dan (Jan) Ster of North Myrtle Beach, South
Carolina and Thomas (Brenda) Ster of Chandler, Arizona; a daughter, Carolyn (Bob) Massengale of Columbus; eight grandchildren;
six great-grandchildren; a brother, John Ster of Jacksonville, Florida; and a sister, Janet Kegler of Richmond, Virginia.
Pete was born Dec. 28, 1924, in Lenox, Massachusetts, to Peter M. and Jeanne Marie Ny Ster. Pete joined the U.S. Navy
following graduation from Lenox High School in 1942. Pete participated in the D-Day Normandy invasion, serving as an engineer
on one of the Navy’s shore landing ships. He returned to Lenox following his honorable discharge in 1946 and married
Jerri that year. He graduated in 1950 from Indiana Technical Institute in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and was immediately hired by
Cummins Engine Company in Columbus.
Pete had a long and respected career at Cummins working in Columbus, Indiana, as well as Canada, Scotland, Switzerland
and England. He retired from Cummins in 2000, served as a consultant for Cummins in China, then fully retired in 2003. He
moved from Columbus to Tucson, Arizona, in 2004 and then returned to Columbus in 2012 when his health began to fail.
Pete was longtime member of Saint Bartholomew Catholic Church. He was an avid golfer and a member of the Good Guys
Group and always looked forward to their annual trip to Georgia.
A memorial mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 3, 2017, at Saint Bartholomew Catholic Church, Columbus,
Indiana, with Father Andy Syberg officiating. Immediately following the service, he will be laid to rest next to Jerri in
Garland Brook Mausoleum. A time of gathering will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church. Memorial contributions

FRANKLIN, INDIANA
John Ernest Grimmer, 87, passed away peacefully on Tuesday,
July 18, 2017, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
John and his family were longtime residents of Franklin and
Lamb Lake, arriving in 1969 where John and business partner Robert Schmidt chose to locate their business, GrimmerSchmidt
Compressors, helped in their decision by progressive banker Jack Early. The business grew to include Hurricane Compressors
and ANGI Energy Systems in Wisconsin.
Born on May 16, 1930, in Indianapolis, and married to Barbara
Zeigler Grimmer, his wife of 65 years, they have five sons, John (Diana), Curt, Andy (Karen), Tom (Amy) and Pete (Dana); 9
grandchildren and 4 step-grandchildren.
Preceding John in death were daughter Janet and sister Jane
Grimmer Baker.
He went to Shortridge High School in Indianapolis, was a 1952
engineering graduate of Purdue University and Sigma Alpha Epsilon member, remaining a rabid Purdue football fan for life.
He worked 17 years for Cummins before starting his own business.
John received an honorary doctorate from Franklin College where
he was a 15-year board member. He established scholarships at both Franklin College and Purdue, combining liberal arts and
engineering degrees, was on the Presidents Council at Purdue and was president of the compressor industry council, CAGI. He
was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Franklin. Both Franklin and Palm City, Florida, where he was a resident for 25
years, have been recipients of many generous gifts.
The family wishes to express their thanks to many friends and
the support group who cared for him as his health declined, especially his friend Dr. Gaston Dana.
The family hosted an informal gathering of all John’s
friends on Friday, July 21, from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 South U.S.
31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, Indiana, following a private service for the family.

Wendel W. Hauck, 88, of Columbus, died at
11:25 a.m. Friday, August 4, 2017, at Keepsake Village of Columbus.
Wendel was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, October
25, 1928, the son of Julius W. and Adelaide Haislip Hauck.
He
married Dawn Lyle
and she survives.
He retired from Cummins Engine Company after
32 years as Director of Marketing-International Distributer Development.
He graduated from Purdue University in 1950 with a BSME degree; while
at Purdue he played baseball and was a member of the track team.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during the Korean War.
Memberships include: Charter member of Asbury United Methodist Church and Harrison Lake Country Club; member and
Past Master of St. Johns Masonic Lodge; Scottish Rite; Columbus Chapter Order of Eastern Star; High 12 Service Club; served
as Chaplin for many Masonic organizations; Golden K Kiwanis Club; Purdue Club of Bartholomew County, serving as President
from 2000-2007; John Purdue Club; Varsity P Club; volunteer and Chaplin for Love Chapel; and worked with AMVETS and many other
veterans organizations. He received the Boiler Maker Pride Award in
2013.
He is survived by his wife, Dawn Hauck of Columbus; daughter, Patty (Ron) Hauck Brock of Columbus; son, Dr. Warren
C. (Jackie) Hauck of Ft. Wayne; grandchildren, Brian (Linda Jo) Hauersparger of Columbus, Stacy Hauersparger of Minneapolis,
MN, Wendy (Brad) Schaffer of Indianapolis, Audra (Casey) Johnson of Denver, CO, Dr. Matt (Ali) Hauck of Medford, OR; and 10
great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

William Robert “Bill” Elder, 87, loving husband, father, “grampa”, uncle and friend, passed away peacefully

Bill was born May 15, 1929, to Emza and Mamie Robbins Elder, in Decatur County, Indiana. His mother died when he was five
and he grew up farming with his dad.
He graduated from Burney High School in 1947 and served in Korea with the U.S. Army, Second Infantry Division from 1951-53.
In 1955 he married Shirley Dean Manis, of Columbus, Indiana,
and thus began their journey of 61 beautiful and inseparable years together.
In 1960 he earned his MBA at Indiana University and soon thereafter started a lifelong career with Cummins Engine Company,
spending the last 21 years with Cummins Southern Plains in Arlington.
In 1992, he retired as executive vice president and general manager.
After retirement Bill and Shirley enjoyed spending time with their children and granddaughters, worked as docents
at the Ft. Worth Zoo, and traveled extensively in the U.S. and abroad.
He enjoyed all sports and in particular golf which he played regularly with close friends.
Bill was preceded in death by his brother, Francis Elder of Dayton, Ohio and sister, Sarah Whipple of Greensburg, Indiana.
Survivors: Left to cherish his memory are loving wife, Shirley; daughter, Kathryn Diane McCrady; son, Steven Marshall Elder
of Dallas; and granddaughters, Kylie Alexandra and Avery Elizabeth Blessing. He leaves behind many nephews, nieces, cousins
and friends.
Patrick Joseph McGahan

Obituary
Patrick Joseph McGahan passed away on Sunday, November 29 at Saint Joseph's Hospital in Atlanta,
GA from complications related to cancer with his family surrounding him.
Patrick was born on November 19, 1933
in Terre Haute, IN to Dorothy Scharf and Walter Joseph McGahan.
He married his wife, Barbara Ave, in
1959; married over 56 years, they have four children and fourteen grandchildren.
He was a loyal alumnus of The University
of Notre Dame, class of 1955, holding a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and was a graduate of the Indiana University Graduate
School of Business Executive Management Program.
He served as a U.S. Naval
Officer from 1955 to 1958, serving at Naval Air Stations in Jacksonville, FL, Olathe, KS, and San Diego, CA.
He had a long and distinguished career with Cummins Inc.,
serving as Principal and Chairman of Cummins South, Inc. until 2005. He then became Chairman of PJM Investments, an investment
and real estate company.
His contributions to the community are many. He was dedicated
to the mission of the Sisters of Mercy through Saint Joseph's Hospital and Mercy Care; he was recently named an Honorary Director
for The Mercy Care Foundation, having served on their Board of Directors for 25 years. He and Barbara have long supported
the mission of the Society of Mary and its educational programs.
He has helped enable education through a scholarship in
his parents' name at the University of Notre Dame along with membership in the Badin Guild and Sorin Society; he was also
a member of the Notre Dame Alumni Clubs of Atlanta and Hilton Head.
He was a founding Trustee of Southern Catholic College in
Dawsonville, Georgia, now closed.
For 35 years he was a member of the Georgia Motor Trucking
Association Board and served on the Board of the Georgia Department of Driver Services for six years.
He was a founding Board member of the Atlanta St. Patrick's
Day Foundation and a member and supporter of The Shamrock Society.
Memberships include The Cathedral of Christ the King, Order
of Malta Federal Association, The Rotary Club of Atlanta, Cherokee Town and Country Club, The Commerce Club, Sea Pines Country
Club, and Harbour Town Yacht Club.
Patrick Joseph McGahan is survived by his wife, Barbara
Ave McGahan; children, Sheila McGahan Monardo (Paul), Dr. Thomas Patrick McGahan (Lauren), Anne McGahan Harmet (Jeff), Mark
Joseph McGahan (Catherine); 14 grandchildren; sister, Beverly Shea Kesler (Bill); and members of the Shea and Krieg families.

YARMOUTH PORT - Richard T. Plaster, of Yarmouth Port and formerly of Needham, died peacefully at home on July 24, 2015, with
family at his side, after a courageous battle with heart disease.
Beloved husband of Nancy E. Plaster (nee Watson), his high school sweetheart and wife of more than 58 years. Devoted father
of Dennis J. Plaster and his wife Cindy of Needham, MA; Molly A. Ahern and her husband Rich of Abington, MA; Sarah W. Plaster
and her husband Andrew Slavens of Columbus, Georgia; Michael A. Plaster and his wife Jen of Mooresville, North Carolina; and
Elizabeth Barnard and her husband Christian of Austin, Texas. Adored grandfather of 12: Blakely Plaster, Courtney Anderson,
Michaela Plaster, Devon Plaster, Liz Bao, Emily Bao, Kyle Plaster, Brandon Plaster, Emma Slavens, Hannah Barnard, Amelia Barnard
and Ethan Barnard. And great-grandfather to Brynley and Chase Anderson.
Born in Lafayette, Indiana, in 1933, Dick graduated from Jefferson High School where he met his wife Nancy. He was a graduate
of Purdue University, earning a degree in Mechanical Engineering. A lifelong supporter of his alma mater, Dick regularly returned
to homecoming as recently as last fall.
After graduating from Purdue, Dick served honorably in the U.S. Navy. Upon his discharge, he went to work for the Cummins
Engine Company. Subsequently he took a position with the New England distributor for Cummins where he eventually became a
principal of Cummins North Atlantic. Dick was greatly respected in the engine business by his colleagues, customers and competitors.
After he retired from Cummins North Atlantic, he spent more than two decades enjoying entrepreneurial ventures, tennis, golf
and his family.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Dick’s memory may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or Nativity Preparatory School.
A memorial reception in Dick’s honor will be held Wednesday, August 5, from 2 - 4 p.m., at the Cummaquid Golf Club,
Yarmouth Port, Massachusetts.
James C. "Jim" Munt

James C. "Jim" Munt, 79, of Columbus, died at
2:10 a.m. Thursday, February 20, 2014 at Our Hospice of
South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.
Mr. Munt was a 1951 graduate of duPont Manuel High School in
Louisville and a 1958 graduate of the Speed Scientific
School at the University of Louisville.
Mr. Munt began work in 1957 at Cummins Engine Company. He
moved to several different departments during his career but
spent most of his time in Program Management and Service
Engineering. At retirement in 1998, he was executive
director of Service Engineering and a member of the Apex
Program Team. He was always appreciative of the opportunity
to travel to over 30 countries in his professional career
and he took great pride in mentoring and promoting the
growth and careers of young engineers.
Mr. Munt enjoyed membership at North Christian Church,
Golden K Kiwanis Club, Camon Masonic Lodge No. 343, High
Twelve Club 337, and the "Nebo Ridge Deer Hunting
Association".
Jim was an active volunteer at the Atterbury-Bakalar Air
Museum and for many years was a volunteer driver for the
DAV. He was a former member of Harrison Lake Country Club.
Mr. Munt's special interests included hunting and the
outdoors, bird feeding and watching, working on cars and
teaching others the trade, boating, and golfing.
Mr. Munt took pride in hosting his family and friends and
cooking gourmet dinners for them. He also enjoyed reading
biographies and non-fiction books and collecting guns and
knives.
The funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday at
North Christian Church with Dr. Lanny C. Lawler officiating.
Family and friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at
Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Jonathan Moore
Pike and from noon until service time Monday at the church.
Entombment will be at Garland Brook Mausoleum.

William “Bill” Andrews, 86, of Columbus, IN, passed
from the arms of his loving family into the arms of his Savior on Sunday, March 24, 2013. Bill was born July 13, 1926, on
a farm in St. Louis Crossing, to Earl and Berniece Andrews and was one of seven children: Earl Andrews Jr. of Port Orchard,
Washington, Betty Matthias of Indianapolis, Lois Flinn (deceased), Phyllis Westerfield of Columbus, Donald Andrews of Columbus,
and infant sister, Bonnie (deceased).
Bill served
in the Navy during World War II. He was a member of SAE Fraternity at Franklin College where he graduated in 1949 with a degree
in Pre-Law/Business Administration. He then went on to a 35-year career as a service manager at Cummins where he made many,
lifelong friends.
Bill was an active member
of Camon Masonic Lodge No. 343, for 64 years. He served as Past Master of the lodge, was a Scottish Rite member, a Shriner,
a member of Order of the Eastern Star and was involved with High 12 at local, state and international levels. He was a member
of Hope American Legion and a member and docent of the Atterbury-Bakalar Air Museum. He was a faithful member of Asbury United
Methodist Church.
The funeral service celebrating
the life and legacy of William “Bill” Andrews will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 28, 2013, at Asbury
United Methodist Church in Columbus, with Pastor Dave Blystone and Paul Johnson officiating.
Calling hours will be from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 27, 2013, at
Myers-Reed Chapel on 25th Street and from 10:00 a.m. until time of the service on Thursday at the church. A Masonic memorial
service will be conducted by members of Camon Masonic Lodge at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

worked for Cummins, Inc. for 38 years. He was an avid golfer and had a true
passion
for the game.

is survived by his wife of 38 years, Norma Buchanan of San Diego; children,
Melinda Guthrie, Diana Buchanan, Mark Buchanan, Robert Buchanan, Penny (David)
Brueggemann, Michael (Wendy) Wheeler and Kelly (Mike) Rocchio; 7 grandchildren;
4 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Sharon Dorries and Roger Buchanan.

Bill worked in Field Service for Cummins in California and on retiring ran the San
Diego Cummins Distributorship. After retiring from that job, Bill and his wife Norma moved to Lake Tansi outside of
Crossville TN where they hosted the 2008 Cummins Good Guys annual golf outing.
Bill battled lung cancer which caused him and Norma to move to Las Vegas to be nearer
their children and eventually to San Diego where he was when he died.
Bill will be missed by the Cummins Good Guys.
James (Jim) W. Fritz, 82, of Jacksonville, FL, died at 8:50 a.m. Monday, September 17, 2012 at Baptist
Medical Center South.

Jim grew up in Linton, IN where he completed all of his schooling through
high school. Jim attended college at North Texas University and Indiana University before enrolling in the U.S. Air Force
during the Korean War. After completing his service, he returned
to college at Indiana State University where he completed his bachelor’s degree.
In 1962, Jim joined the Cummins Engine Company, where he worked for 36 years.
He retired in 1998 as the Director of Marketing Communication. His job at Cummins allowed him to embrace his love of sports
car racing while also expressing his creativity in the marketing arena. He thoroughly enjoyed his job and felt very fortunate
to have been able to spend so many years doing something he loved.
Jim was also an active member of Asbury United Methodist Church where he
taught an adult Sunday school class for over 25 years. In his class, he used classic and contemporary films as a platform
for the discussion of Christianity and biblical teachings. He had a great love of film, and he enjoyed sharing this passion
with his students.
After retiring from Cummins, Jim worked as a driving instructor at Always
First Driving Academy in Columbus where he patiently helped many novice drivers learn how to drive. In addition, he engaged
in a number of volunteer activities in Columbus such as reading the newspaper for visually-impaired individuals and tutoring
elementary-aged children in reading.
Jim was also an extremely talented pianist. In his younger years, he performed
as a part of a jazz trio. Jim loved sharing his musical gift with others and continued to play the piano into his final days.
Jim is survived by his wife, Maria; two daughters, Gabrielle and Noelle;
a son-in-law, Duke; and grand-daughter Laila.
A memorial service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, October 13, 2012, at
Asbury United Methodist Church. Visiting hours will precede the service, beginning at 10 a.m.

Jim Fritz wasn't an official member of the Cummins Good Guys, but he was a friend of
most of the Good Guys and well known to everyone. He's one of the reasons Cummins is so well known around the world
today. He had a knack of grabbing opportunities to showcase the Cummins name and products in unique ways.

Kenneth Robert Foster, 82, of Temple died Wednesday,
July 11, 2012.

He was born Sept. 11, 1929, in Hillsboro, Ohio, to Mack and Ocie Pendell Foster.
He served in the U.S. Navy for 4 years and was a graduate of Ohio State University.
He was preceded in death by a son, Marcus Foster, who died in an automobile accident some years ago.
Survivors include his wife, Christine Nelson Foster; two daughters, Jenny Drummond and Gretchen Jones; and two grandchildren.

Bill fell on some ice/snow and hit his head hard and passed away from a hemorrhage the next day.

February 25, 2011 William J. "Bill" Maynard, Jr., 75, De Pere, passed away
unexpectedly Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2011, at his home.
He was born Feb. 19, 1936, in Iron Mountain, Mich., son of the late William
J. Sr. and Lucy Charlotte (Lusardi) Maynard. He graduated from
Kingsford High School, Kingsford, Mich., in 1954, and served his country in the United States Air Force (Postal Division)
from 1954 to 1958, stationed in Japan and Korea.
William's career started with Cummins Great Lakes, and he worked his way
up from Parts Clerk to President, retiring in 2002. Not
one to be idle, he later began a second career with Masterfleet, in trailer sales, where he was currently employed.
During his lifetime, William was a member of the American Martyrs, Jaycees,
Elk's, Moose Lodge, Wisconsin Motor Carriers, Logging Congress, Ducks Unlimited, and was a lifetime member of the Green Bay
Packer Hall of Fame.
He enjoyed country music, golf, fishing, photography, was an avid Packer
fan and Detroit Tiger fan, and enjoyed playing guitar and singing.
He will be deeply missed by his children, Rose (Mike) Hogan and their children,
Lauren, Ben, and Michaela; Kathy (Chuck) Steinmetz and their children, Austin, Jenna, and Nicole; Laura (Scott) Marvil and
their children, Ethan, Noah, and Emma; and Brad (special friend, Ame) Maynard; mother of their children, Agnes Maynard; brother
and sister- in-law, Jack and Lucia Maynard; sister-in-law, Karen (Jerry) Nardi; close friend, Pat Hulce; brother-in-law and
sisters-in-law, Butch and Bev Pfeiffer, and Ruth Ricchezza; and aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. In addition to his parents, William was also preceded in death by his brother, Norman.

I attended the funeral mass conducted for Marty Bruckner at 10
AM Saturday at the Holy Redeemer cemetery in Cave CreekAZ (north Phoenix).
It was a beautiful and peaceful desert setting.
Sher and her family greeted many local friends, several representatives
from the local Phonix SCORE organization, and three old friends from Cummins Arizona
Diesel; Dave Crawford, Butch LaComb, and Raye West.
Several of Marty’s friends spoke following the mass, including
his SCORE associates.
I also spoke and said what a good friend Marty was, that I had
known him from the mid-1950s, and how much we all miss him. I also mentioned
his keen interest in military history.In closing I said that I also represented
a group of Marty’s friends called the Cummins Good Guys.
Later I asked Sher if there was a special organization that Marty’s
friends could make a memorial donation to.

Hart passed away on 20 July 2008.
On June 13 Sam became ill while playing golf. He was diagnosed on June 20 with liver cancer.
He got a further diagnosis on June 24, of pancreatic cancer that had metastisized to the liver, by the oncologist. He
had a chemo treatment on the 25th & was to have a second one on July 1st, but his blood platelets were too low. He
passed away on July 12, 2008.

Samuel Warren Hart, 76, Sarasota since 1991, formerly of Columbus, Ind., died July 12, 2008. Visitation will

William “Bill” Steed, Jr. was born on October 27, 1925 to Mr. & Mrs. William Steed, Sr. in Terre
Haute, IN. During World War II his military service was in the United States Army and the United States Air Force in the United
States and in Guam from 1943-1946. He graduated from Purdue University in West Lafayette, IN. in 1950 with a degree in mechanical
engineering. He was employed by Cummins Engine Co. in Chicago, IL., San Francisco, CA., Hawaii, and then transferred to Columbus,
IN. in 1957. He retired as a Vice President in 1985 after a total of 35 years of service.
He married Elaine Danner Carpenter of Columbus, IN. in 1959 and they were married for 49 years. Bill and Elaine enjoyed
traveling throughout the United States, Canada, England, Ireland, and Scotland, where they researched their heritage. He was
an active member of the St. Bartholomew Roman Catholic Church in Columbus, IN. where he served on many committees. He was
a member of the Pastoral Council and was Chairman of the Long Range Planning Committee for the construction of the St. Bartholomew
Roman Catholic Church located at 1306-27th St.
He belonged to the Breakfast Kiwanis Club, Knights of Columbus Council #1414, J.C.'s, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Harrison
Lake Country Club, and the Society of Automotive Engineers. He was also a Tour Guide for the Columbus Visitor's Center.
He enjoyed playing golf at the Harrison Lake Country Club where he was a Past President of the Club. He also
enjoyed fishing in Canada and hunting with his friends.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; Mr. & Mrs. William Steed, Sr. of Terre Haute, IN. and his
sister; Mary Steed of Indianapolis, IN. His survivors include his wife; Elaine Danner Steed of Columbus, IN., his sister;

Chuck Grace passed away on 29 October 2007.
Charles Leo “Chuck” Grace, a Charlotte business, civic and religious leader for nearly
forty years, died Monday, October 29, 2007. He was 72.
He was owner and chairman of Cummins Atlantic Inc., distributor
for Cummins Engine Company in the Carolinas and Virginia. He was also a dealer for Thermo King Refrigeration products in central
North Carolina, western Virginia and West Virginia.
In his civic and business life he was a past chairman of the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce, a director of Carolinas
HealthCare Systems, a member of the Mid-Atlantic Board of First Union Corporation, a member of Liberty Mutual Insurance Company’s
Board of Advisers, and a director of North Carolina Citizens for Business and Industry.
In addition he was a trustee of Belmont Abbey College, a member of the advisory council of the College of Arts
and Letters at Notre Dame University, a past director of Notre Dame Alumni, founder and past president of the Notre Dame Club
of the Carolinas, a member of the Parish Board of Advisors for Saint Gabriel Catholic Church, and a member of the Knights
of Malta, Federal Association.
Further, he was a member of Quail Hollow Country Club, Elk River Club, and Sea Pines
Country Club.
He was born in Indianapolis, a son of the late Mary Helen and John Leo Grace. He grew up in Kokomo, Indiana,
and was a graduate of the University of Notre Dame at South Bend. He joined the Cummins Engine Company in 1957.
A loving
husband, father and grandfather, he is survived by his wife of 49 years, Mary Ann Hamilton Grace; a son, Michael Grace and
his wife Laura Babb Grace of Charlotte, and three daughters: Mary Beth Hollett and her husband Peter of Matthews, Kathleen
Moser and her husband Rick of Southhaven, MS, and Ann Green of Charlotte. Also surviving are grandchildren Jim, Betsy, Dan
and Patrick Grace; Hamilton and Hannah Hollett; Charlie, Mary Grace and Peter Moser, and John, Keith and Chuck Green.
Services
will be at Saint Gabriel Catholic Church, Charlotte, with the recitation of a Rosary this afternoon, Thursday November 1,
2007 at 4:30 p.m., followed by a visitation until 6:30 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated
at 11 a.m. Friday, November 2nd at Saint Gabriel with the Most Reverend Bishop William Curlin, the Rt. Rev. Placid Solari,
Monsignor John McSweeney, the Rev. Frank O’Rourke, Concelebrants. Burial will follow at Belmont Abbey.
In lieu
of flowers, the family requests that memorials be sent to the University of Notre Dame, Belmont Abbey College, Saint Gabriel
Catholic Church, or Holy Angels Nursery.
Chuck's relationship with the Cummins Good Guys goes back to 1957 when he began working for Cummins.
He was well liked throughout the organization over the years. He never forgot his friends and treated his employees
with respect. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Buzz Horton passed away in July of 1997.
C. E. "Buzz" Horton died in 1997 of cancer at the age of 72. Most of the Cummins Good Guys either
knew or worked with Buzz at some time in their career. I remember the first time I met Buzz in the fall of 1966. I was the
new OEM Engineer at Fleetguard in Seymour and Buzz invited me to come make a filtration presentation to the folks at the Army
Tank Automotive Command in Warren, MI. Buzz was always looking for new business opportunities and ways to provide support
for his customers.
Buzz was a charter member of the Cummins Good Guys and a good friend to many of the present day
members. He lives on in the memory of his friends.
Ralph Shields
Ralph J."Big Foot" Shields was born on Nov. 13, 1915 in Scottsburg, Indiana and passed
away April 16, 2005 in Dallas Texas. He received his nickname in WW2 when he was a SeaBee in the U.S. Navy and the
Navy had trouble finding shoes big enough for him.
Ralph joined Cummins Engine Company in the Service Division and
for the next 40 years worked at the Factory, the Great Lakes Regional Office in Cleveland, the Sales Corp (Michigan Dist),
St. Louis Regional Office and the Plains Divional Office in Dallas-Ft. Worth.
Ralph and his wife Tina remained in
Dallas when he retired . Ralph was a colorful individual with his size 13 shoes...and was affectionately known by all
who knew him simply as 'Big Foot'.
Ralph always put the customer first and worked closely with Charlie Irons and Bob
Giles at Cummins Diesel Northern Ohio in Cleveland and Bill Turner in Columbus,Ohio and the Michigan Distributor.
Ralph
took pride in his custom made suits (and shoes) and was an impeccable dresser. This did not, however, prevent Ralph
from climbing up on a truck or construction equipment to assist distributor service personnel on a problem. Bill Elder
said "Ralph worked for me a couple of years in Texas. He had a tool box in his trunk and managed to fix some minor
engine problems for his customers on routine calls. That's what we mean when we say prompt service."
After
Ralph retired, he purchased a 'Harley' as a hobby. He rode his Harley to Columbus,Indiana to a Cummins annual meeting.
It was his first annual meeting and Ralph was introuduced to all at this meeting when management found out he was attending.
Ralph always loved his woodworking shop and was very proud of the carvings and woodwork he turned out. All
Cummins Good Guys who know Ralph were saddened to learn when he passed away.
Joe Butlerpassed away on 31
December 2003.
Joseph L. Butler was born on 10 October 1925 and passed away on 31 December 2003. He had colon surgery on December
9 and a malignancy was discovered. He suffered a heart attack and never recovered. Joe was born on October 10, 1925
in Clifford, Indiana to the late Lloyd H. and Marie (Hayworth) Butler. He was 78 years old.
Joe
was a well respected executive engineer at the factory and was responsible for the design of several Cummmins' engines.
He retired about 1990 and played golf daily, often playing 27 holes.
Joe attended all the Cummins Good Guys golf outings,
including his last outing to Litchfield in September of 2003.
Joe was a gentlemen and will be missed by all who knew
him.
Loy Jones passed away on 16 August 2006.
Loy D. Jones suffered an apparent heart attack at his church Saturday August 26, 2006 after working
at a church breakfast.
Loy was the long time Sales and Marketing Vice President for Cummins Mid-States Power, Inc.
in Indianapolis. He had been with the Indianapolis Distributor since the 1950's. He had been retired for about
10 years.
Loy could always be counted on to attend the Cummins Good Guys golf trips, only missing two years following
his wife's death. He was planning to attend the Good Guys golf outing in October of 2006 at Litchfield.
Don
Reilly said it best. "Loy was a great fellow and even more accomplished than many of us realized. We should
look to Loy as inspiration for how we might better conduct our lives, he was a kind, considerate and accomplished gentleman."
Obituary
Loy D. Jones 81, Indianapolis, passed away August 26, 2006. He was born December 13, 1924
in Scottsburg, IN. A graduate of Franklin High School, he graduated from Purdue University in 1945 with a B.S. in Mechanical
Engineering and was a member of their band for four years. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean War.
Loy was a member of Southport Presbyterian Church where he served as an Elder and was a member of their Duos.
He was a member of Phi Sigma Kappa Fraternity at Purdue University; he served as Past Commodore for the Bloomington Yacht
Club, Past President of the Scientech Club, Treasurer of the D.J. Angus Foundation, Past President of Indiana Equipment Distribution
and was a member of Executive Service Corps.
He retired as Vice President of Cummins Diesel Engines after 37 years.
His wife, Marjorie Ann (Wilson) Jones and his brother, Dale W. Jones both preceded him in death. Survivors include
his two sons, David W. (Janet) Jones and Steven R. (Linda) Jones, one brother, Raymond W. (Jean Ann) Jones, one sister-in-law,
Helen Jones, four grandchildren, Scott, Jennifer, Larissa and Adaline, four great grandchildren, two nephews and four nieces.
A memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 8 at Southport Presbyterian
Church, 7525 McFarland Blvd. Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday at the church. The burial
will be private. Memorial contributions may be given to Southport Presbyterian Church Missionary Fund, 7525 McFarland Blvd.

Frank Leasure passed away on 29 November 2006.
Early the morning of November 29, 2006 Frank died. His heart began beating
very fast and then just stopped. The nurses in the ICU were with him and they said he looked very peaceful.
He had
been sick for some time and has fought a hard and long battle but finally succumbed.
Frank was one of the founding members of the Cummins Good Guys and participated
in all of the golf outings in recent years until his health failed him.
He was a true gentleman and we will all miss him.
Obituary
Frank L. Leasure 74, of Haines City FL died Wednesday, November 29, 2006 in Orlando FL. Mr. Leasure was
born February 12, 1932 in Toronto, OH, and moved to Haines city FL in 1997 from Bloomington IN
He was an Executive Vice President with Cummins North Central, Minnesota, a member of St.
John's United Methodist Church in Winter Haven, FL, and an Air Force veteran of the Korean war.
He graduated from Ohio University in 1959 and was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity alumni and a member
of the American Legion in Bloomington.
He is survived by his mother, Lona Mae Leasure, his wife, Maggie Leasure, daughters Deborah Winters
and Karaen Layman, a stepdaughter Nicole Dillman, a brother Paul H. Leasure, a sister Gloria Jean Petty, grandchildren Ashley,
Amanda, Spencer and Cameron., and great-grand-daugher Emma.
A memorial service was conducted at 10:30am on Friday, December 8, 2006 at the First Christian
Church in Columbus.
