In 1850 Sidney is listed in the Knox County IL census in Township 12N2E which became Sparta township soon thereafter.

The following section of a Sparta township Knox county IL 1961 map lists several names I have circled in yellow that appear close to Sidney's listing in the 1850 census. In addition, notice the white arrow pointing to the name "W. M. Heath", the name of Sidney's son.  This is likely where Sidney lived and farmed in 1850.

In 1852 Sydney bought 40 acres of land in Henry County as described in the below record.

Soon thereafter, Illinois replaced the numerical names of the townships with names.  14N 01E became Oxford Township.

Based on the description of the location of the 40 acres being in Township 14N 01E (Oxford) and the Section (1 square mile made up of 640 acres) number being 24, one can find the approximate location and size of the property Sidney bought in 1852 and it turns out to be (the area in red) right next to the property owned by his grandson on the 1861 map.

Here's a link to a map showing what Knox county IL looked like in 1861.

Knox county IL 1861 map

Sidney Heath's son William M. Heath came to Knox County IL from New York with Asaph DeLong and Luman Field from Vermont.  They all three settled on section 31 in 1836. Section 31 was located in Sparta Township.

William M. Heath's son William Heath married Lucinda M. Field Aug 3, 1837.  She is a daughter of Luman Field above. They lived on a farm near Center Point for 24 eight years, and then moved to Wataga where Mr. Heath died 31 Mar 1882.  After her husband's death, Mrs. Heath moved to Galesburd and lived with her son William, at whos home she died 11 July 1899.  Her son married Kate E. Armstrong of Galesburg at Fargo ND 10 Sep 1892.  He worked at the Deering Harvester Company of Chicago as their general agent in Galesburg.

The below 1861 map shows the location of Center Point relative to the location of William M. Heath's farm.

Sidney Heath lived and farmed in Knox County IL. However, he died in Woodhull, Henry County, IL which is just across the county line to the north from Knox county.

When Sidney Heath wrote his will on 13 Oct 1859 he was living in Clover Township in Henry County IL. He names his beloved wife as "Ann S. Heath", making one think that his second wife's maiden name begins with "S".  Clover Township is one of twenty-four townships in Henry County, Illinois. It is located around Woodhull and extends to the border of Knox County to the south.  As of the 2010 census, its population was 938 and it contained 428 housing units in 34.92 square miles.

Sidney Heath named his son Asel Heath as co-executor of his will.  In 1860 Asel is listed in the 1860 federal census as living in Clover, Henry County, IL with Woodhull listed as the nearest Post Office.
